The race.

The 19th Annual Bird Dog Breakaway takes place October 3, 2026, in Waynesboro, GA, at Waynesboro City Park. The event includes a 5K run, 2-mile walk, 1-mile run for ages 6–12, 50-yard run for ages 5 and under, and a 1/4-mile adaptive walk. The 5K and 1-mile children's run use electronic timing. Entry fees are $35 for the 5K and 2-mile walk, $25 for cross country teams (groups of 10 or more), $25 for children's runs, and free for the adaptive walk. Check-in opens at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K and 2-mile walk starting at 8:30 a.m. Packet pickup is Friday, October 2, from 2–5 p.m., or race day before 8 a.m.; registration must close by September 11 to guarantee a race t-shirt. All proceeds benefit the Center for New Beginnings, which serves children and adolescents with special needs.
