The 2025 RACE at Your Own Pace to #ShadeOutDM takes place November 9–23, 2025, as a virtual event participants can join from their own location. Organized by the Shade Out DM Foundation to raise awareness about Degenerative Myelopathy in dogs, the event offers multiple participation options including competitive 5K runs, distance challenges across running and walking categories, dog jogs, cycling, and various alternative activities such as skateboarding, horseback riding, and swimming. Registration is free with an optional $25 donation suggested. Participants can compete for distance or speed awards across different categories, or join as a supportive "Couch Dog" participant. The event benefits prevention efforts through genetic testing education prior to breeding.
