The race.
The 2026 Fort Detrick Danish Flyver March takes place on August 28 at Fort Detrick, Maryland, starting from the 21st Theater Signal Brigade parking lot at 1435 Porter Street. Participants complete a 12.4-mile course with no time limit while carrying a rucksack weighing at least 23 pounds and wearing duty uniform or equivalent. The event is open to military personnel, service civilians, and civilians of any fitness level. All finishers receive an official certificate, and commemorative items are available for purchase. In-person participation at Fort Detrick is required to receive credit for completion.
