The race.
The 2026 Grand Targhee Colter Cup is a 9-mile downhill mountain bike race held July 19 in Alta, Wyoming. Racers descend 3,900 vertical feet from Fred's Mountain at Grand Targhee to Teton Canyon in a time-trial format, with a shuttle returning participants to the resort. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Plaza, with racing starting at 10:00 a.m. from Fred's Summit. Entry includes shuttle service, chip timing, a swag bag, custom number plate, and post-race festivities including live music at the Trap. Age group and skill categories include U15, Amateur 15+, Expert 15+, Open/Pro, Master 40-49, Master 50+, Adaptive MTB, and Retro MTB (bikes manufactured before 2006). Entry fees are $60 through February 28 and $80 from March 1 through race day; discounted lift tickets are available for competitors.
