2026 Quarry Springs Paddle Skedaddle Biathlon

The race.

The 2026 Quarry Springs Paddle Skedaddle Biathlon takes place September 13 in Colfax, Iowa, and combines a 2-mile kayak course with a 3.5-mile trail run at Quarry Springs Park near Des Moines. Participants can compete solo or form relay teams with a partner handling each discipline. Packet pickup runs from 6:30–7:30 a.m., with the racer meeting at 8 a.m. and race start at 8:15 a.m. All finishers receive a race bib and t-shirt (guaranteed if registered by September 5), plus access to free race photos. Age-group awards include medals for first, second, and third place across five categories (ages 5–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, and 50+), with relay team awards also available. Pre-race refreshments and post-race snacks are provided, and water stations support runners on course. Participants must supply their own kayak; life jackets are available for rent through Quarry Springs Outfitters.
