The race.
The 24th Annual NAACP George V. Tankard, Jr. Memorial 5K Run/Walk takes place September 19, 2026, in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. The 1-mile Fun Run for children 12 and under starts at 9:00 a.m. from Summercamp Hotel, while the 3.1-mile 5K Run/Walk begins at 9:30 a.m. from Ocean Park. The USATF-certified course runs through Oak Bluffs streets, circling the harbor and East Chop. Trophies are awarded to top male and female finishers, with medals for age-category winners; awards are presented at Summercamp. Proceeds benefit the Martha's Vineyard NAACP Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to high school seniors from the island.
