About the race
The race.
The 30th Annual Run Wild for the Detroit Zoo takes place September 13, 2026, in Royal Oak, Michigan. Participants can choose between a 5K race starting at 8 a.m. from 10 Mile Service Drive (finishing inside the Detroit Zoo) or a 1.25-mile fun walk starting at 8:45 a.m. through the zoo. In-person packet pickup occurs Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Sunday morning from 6 to 7:30 a.m. at the 10 Mile Parking Lot. Race day registration is available Sunday from 6 to 7:30 a.m., closing 30 minutes before the 5K starts. The event benefits the Detroit Zoo. Spectator admission tickets are available for $15 adults and $10 children.
