About the race

The race.

The 30th Annual Two Mile Manitou Monster Lake Swim takes place July 12, 2026, in New Auburn, Wisconsin. Swimmers compete in a 2-mile open water course starting and finishing at Morris-Erickson County Campground Beach on WI-40. Check-in opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 8:40 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m. and course closing at 11 a.m. A mandatory safety meeting precedes the start. Swimmers must wear safe swimmer buoys; wetsuits and neoprene caps are permitted depending on water temperature. USMS members receive a $20 discount. An awards ceremony by age group is planned for shortly after 11 a.m. at Max's, where a buffet lunch is available for an additional charge.
