The race.
The 9/11 Step Strong Challenge takes place in Maryville, Tennessee on September 11, 2026. Participants complete 110 floors of stair climbing—equivalent to the height of the World Trade Center towers—totaling 2,200 steps over 9 minutes and 11 seconds, followed by a 5K walk or run. The event honors first responders who died in the September 11 attacks and raises funds for Blue Line Tennessee.
