Alaska Salmon Runs takes place July 18, 2026, in Cordova, Alaska, featuring five distances: one mile, 3.1 miles, 6.2 miles, 13.1 miles, and 26.2 miles. Except for the one-mile event, runners receive shuttle bus transportation from race headquarters to their starting lines. The courses follow the historic Copper River and Northwestern Railroad route and are mostly flat at sea level. Finishers in the 3.1-mile, 6.2-mile, 13.1-mile, and 26.2-mile events are eligible for medals, awarded to the top three men and women in each distance at the Pioneer Igloo on First Street. A post-race salmon barbecue lunch is available for purchase, featuring salmon, side dishes, dessert, and door prizes; attendees may also bring a dish to share for six to eight people to receive free admission. The event is part of the Salmon Jam weekend festival.
