The Arizona Youth Triathlon features a swim at Litchfield Park recreation center pool, cycling on community paths and Old Litchfield Road, and running on Old Litchfield Road and around Tierra Verde Lake Park. This USAT-sanctioned event offers five age divisions (6 and under through 13-14) with distances ranging from a 0.25-yard swim, 0.53-mile bike, and 0.30-mile run for the youngest athletes to a 150-yard swim, 2.12-mile bike, and 1.25-mile run for the oldest. Races begin at 6:30 a.m. with staggered starts by age group; participants must arrive 30 minutes early for timing chip pickup and wear mandatory bike helmets. All registered participants receive an event t-shirt and finisher medal, and awards go to the top three boys and girls in each age division. USAT membership ($10 annual) or a one-day membership is required to participate.
