About the race

The race.

The Bear Chase features a 1-mile run starting at 8:30 a.m. and a 5K starting at 9:15 a.m. on July 11, 2026, in Bertha, Minnesota. Participants take a shuttle bus to the start line and finish at Bertha-Hewitt High School. The 1-mile course is paved and flat; the 5K includes small rolling hills. Registration costs $20 for the 1-mile, $30 for the 5K, or $35 for both races, with online registration closing July 8. Race-day registration runs from 7:15 to 8:00 a.m. Top three finishers in each division receive ribbons, and overall male and female winners in each race receive trophies. Pre-registered participants receive a t-shirt.
