CARA RUN For Their Lives! 2026

Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption hosts its 18th annual Run For Their Lives on August 22, 2026, in Sanford, NC, offering 5K, 10K, and 15K distances to support the no-kill shelter's operations. Participants can run in person starting at 7:30 a.m. for the 5K and 8:15 a.m. for the 10K at Kiwanis Park, or choose a virtual option or "Sleep for Their Lives" participation from home. A kids' half-mile fun run begins at 8:30 a.m. Courses run through Historic Sanford and the Greenway; leashed dogs and strollers are welcome. Race bibs and new registrations open Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. Overall and age-group awards are given for the 5K and 10K, with special medals for those completing both courses. T-shirts are available for an additional $5, included free with virtual and challenge registrations; register by August 1st to guarantee shirt size. All proceeds support CARA's animal care and adoption services.
