Charles E Davis Independence Run 2026

The race.

The Charles E Davis Independence Run takes place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Eastport, Maine, with a 9 AM start time. Participants choose between a 7-mile run starting in Perry at the junction of Routes 1 and 190, or a 4-mile walk beginning on Carlow Island, both finishing in Eastport. Registration opens early at Shead High School (89 High St., Eastport) from 7:15 to 8:30 AM on race day, with bib pickup at the same location. Bus transportation departs Shead High School at 8:40 AM to transport runners and walkers to their respective start lines. Awards are given to overall top 3 males and females, plus age group winners in 10-year divisions from under 18 through 80+; the top walker also receives an award. A $300 bonus is offered to any male or female runner who breaks the existing 7-mile course records (male: 36:27, female: 44:41). Registration fees are $25–$35 for the run and $20 for the walk, depending on registration date.
