Escape From Brushy Mtn. State Pen 5k 2026

The race.

The inaugural Escape From Brushy Mtn. State Pen 5K takes place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 7:30 a.m., starting and finishing at Historic Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros, Tennessee. Participants receive a finisher medal and unisex cotton blend shirt. Post-race refreshments are provided. Early bird registration through July 31 costs $35, with fees increasing to $40 (August 1–22) and $45 (August 23–29); day-of registration is $45 with no discounts. The course closes 1 hour 30 minutes after the start. Race proceeds benefit MoCo Mutts Rescue Center; participants may donate during registration or bring needed items to the race for raffle entry.
