Freebird 5K 2026

The race.

The Freebird 5K takes place on September 12, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at Coldstream Park/Legacy Trail in Lexington, Kentucky. The event features a 5K run/walk on a flat course, plus a 1-mile untimed option and fun walk. A virtual option is available. Participants receive a commemorative unisex t-shirt (or may opt out), and awards are given to the overall top 3 male and female finishers as well as top 3 in each age group (0–14, 15–19, 20–24, and five-year increments through 70+). Race morning packet pickup occurs at Coldstream Park, with complimentary race photos provided and a finish line photo contest. Social team participation is encouraged with a prize for the largest team. Proceeds benefit the Lexington Public Safety Museum.
