Frightening 4 Trail Run/Hike 2026

The race.

The Frightening 4 is a 4-mile trail run/hike held October 10, 2026, at York River State Park in Williamsburg, Virginia. The course features dirt trails with rolling hills, roots, and narrow single-track sections mixed with wider gravel terrain, including views along the York River. Participants have a 2-hour time limit and may run, hike, or combine both. Packet pickup runs from 2:30–3:30 p.m., with a 3:45 p.m. briefing and 4 p.m. start; the course closes at 6 p.m. All finishers receive medals, and those wearing costumes receive a race logo temporary tattoo. Post-race refreshments are provided. A race shirt is available as an add-on purchase during registration. Parking is included near the start/finish line, with indoor restrooms nearby. No on-course aid stations are available; participants should bring their own water and consider bringing lights if finishing after 1.5 hours or if conditions are cloudy. Leashed dogs are permitted.
