About the race

The race.

The Great OC Lagoon Race takes place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Ocean City, New Jersey. The event features three water-based competitions: a paddleboard race starting at 11:00 AM, a kayak race (singles and doubles) at 11:30 AM, and an open-water swim at 12:00 PM limited to participants 18 and older. The swim covers approximately 0.75 miles, with a portion in the open bay. The course loops around the 17th Street island within the Venetian Lagoon, with launches available from the 16th or 18th Street bulkheads and the finish at the 18th Street bulkhead. Awards and trophies go to top finishers in each division, with additional prizes for the youngest and oldest racers. Ocean City Beach Patrol will be present during the swim for safety.
