About the race
The race.
The GRRRR Great River Road Road Race takes place October 3, 2026, at Pikes Peak State Park in McGregor, Iowa. Both the 5K and 10K distances are USATF-certified and chip-timed. The out-and-back course begins at the park parking lot, heads west on Pikes Peak Road to Great River Road, then south on Great River Road to the respective race distance marker before returning on the same route. The course features slightly rolling hills. Following the race, participants receive an awards presentation and complimentary pancake breakfast.
