The race.

The Houtzdale Days Annual 5K Run/Walk and Fireman's Challenge takes place August 1, 2026, in Houtzdale, PA. The run/walk course measures 3.3 miles, while the Fireman's Challenge follows the same route but requires participants to wear or carry full turnout gear (boots, hat, pants, and coat) throughout. Registration costs $25 for the run/walk or $20 for the Fireman's Challenge, with group discounts available for 10 or more registrations. All proceeds benefit the Houtzdale Fire Company. Medals are awarded to first, second, and third place finishers in male and female categories, distributed after all participants finish. Finisher shirts are guaranteed only for registrations completed by July 17 at 11:59 PM. The Fireman's Challenge winner receives $250 to donate to their fire company or EMS of choice, subject to weather-dependent modifications at the Race Director's discretion.
