The 42nd Annual Independence Day Classic on July 4, 2026, in Newhall, CA features races of 1K, 1 mile, 5K, 10K, and 15K distances, plus a 1-mile senior walk, with start times beginning at 7:15 a.m. at Newhall Park. All participants in the 5K and Masters Mile Walk receive a technical shirt and finisher's medal; 1K participants receive a medal. Packet pickup occurs Friday, July 3rd from 3–8 p.m. or Saturday, July 4th from 6–7 a.m. at designated locations on Newhall Avenue. The event benefits cross-country programs for seven area high schools and local nonprofits. Overall and age-group awards are presented for 5K finishers, with team awards for groups of five or more runners. Free Kona Ice and race photos are available to all participants.
