The race.

The Kennekuk Road Runners Howl at the Moon event takes place August 8, 2026, in Danville, IL, featuring an 8-hour run and a 4-hour run or walk option. Both events use a 3.25-mile loop course through the park with grass, gravel, and pavement terrain, starting and finishing at the Laury Barn. The 8-hour race begins at 7:00 a.m. and the 4-hour race at 11:00 a.m. Packet pickup occurs Friday, August 7, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., or Saturday morning before each race start. Race shirts by Headsweats are available for $10 and included with packet pickup. Awards go to the top 3 male and female overall finishers in both events, with the 8-hour race offering additional top 5 awards per age group. Post-race food is provided for all registered participants.
