Kennekuk Road Runners - Wild Wild Wilderness 2026

The race.

The Kennekuk Road Runners host the Wild Wild Wilderness on September 12, 2026, at Kickapoo State Recreation Area near Oakwood, Illinois. Three distances are offered: a 5K starting at 9:15 AM, a 7.45-mile trail run starting at 9:00 AM, and a 10.55-mile option. Race day registration opens at 8:00 AM with a cost of $40 for the 5K or $50 for the 7.45-mile race; day-of registration does not include a shirt. Packet pickup, including bib and shirt, occurs from 8:00 to 8:45 AM at the Kickapoo State Park Maintenance Building. The 7.45-mile course is 95 percent trail with significant elevation changes, creek crossings, and two aid stations. No time limit applies to completion.
