The race.
The McHenry Lakefront 5K takes place July 11, 2026, in McHenry, IL, starting from Petersen Park Beach. The 5K course follows the Prairie Trail and Lakeland Park neighborhood on a chip-timed, USATF-certified route. A Kids Fun Run features races of 50 meters (ages 3–5) and 100 meters (ages 6–8). Check-in runs from 7:00–7:45 a.m., with packet and shirt pickup available Friday from noon–6 p.m. at McHenry Recreation Center (3636 Municipal Drive) or race morning. Entry includes a t-shirt while supplies last and a finisher medal. Awards go to top overall male and female finishers and first through third place in male and female age groups (9 and under through 70 and over); kids race medalists receive awards for top three finishers in each distance.
