Morgantown Running hosts a 5K and kids race on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 26, 2026. The 800-meter Kids Turkey Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m. for children under 12, running two heats around the blue track at the WVU Coliseum (under 5 in heat 1; ages 6–12 in heat 2). The 5K run/walk begins at 9:00 a.m., starting at the same blue track and following a course through Morgantown that includes portions on Mon Boulevard, Boyers Avenue, Leeway Street, and the rail trail, finishing behind the Seneca Center at Morgantown Running. Runners may choose the run or walk category; those registered for the walk may only walk. Awards go to the top three male and female 5K finishers and top male and female walkers. The first 1,000 registered participants receive socks. Parking is available at either the start or finish, with shuttle service provided. Participants are encouraged to donate gently-used men's clothing, belts, shoes, and non-perishable proteins to Christian Help.
