The race.

PSRR Free 5K Run/Walk takes place August 1, 2026, in Shorewood, IL at Hammel Woods Forest Preserve. The 5K course winds through the preserve and starts at 8:00 AM near the hidden shelter, with the main entrance at 554 Brook Forest Road. This professionally timed, free event welcomes strollers and leashed pets; rollerblades and skateboards are not permitted. The course includes mile markers and one staffed water table, with water and sports drinks available post-race. Results are posted online in overall and age group categories. Proceeds benefit Rockdale School's sports programs; participants are encouraged to bring school supply donations and cash for raffle items.
