The Race for Remembrance - 9/11 Tribute Run is a 170-mile run from Shanksville, PA to Washington, DC on September 5-6, 2026. The event begins at dawn on September 5 with a reading at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, honoring the 40 fallen. Day one covers 90 miles through Pennsylvania hills to Hagerstown, Maryland; day two covers 80 miles through Virginia to the Lincoln Memorial, with 29 miles on trails. Registration includes two nights of hotel accommodation (September 5-6) with a roommate option, van transportation from Alexandria or Virginia Beach to the starting point and between race legs, a dry fit shirt, and water and snacks at aid stations. A running vest is required for twilight and night running. Runners are responsible for their own meals. This is part one of a larger campaign benefiting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
