About the race
The race.
The Running of the Ox offers three distances—5K, 2 Mile, and 1 Mile run/walk—on Labor Day, September 7, 2026, in West Jefferson, Ohio. All races start and finish at West Jefferson High School on a flat, paved road course that passes Garrette Park. Registrants receive t-shirts, and the course runs in conjunction with the West Jefferson Ox Roast. Race proceeds benefit the West Jefferson Youth Athletic Association. Reduced entry fees apply for children 8 and under ($8.00) and students ages 9–17 ($20.00).
