About the race
The race.
The Sea Turtle Race: Cold Stun Run takes place October 10, 2026, at Essex County Park at Orange Reservoir in West Orange, NJ. The 5K run starts at 8:30 a.m., and a 1.7-mile Family Fun Walk begins at 8:35 a.m. Race shirts are provided to those who pre-register by September 14th, with limited quantities available after that date on a first-come, first-served basis. Refreshments are served after the race at Clipper Pavilion. The 5K competition awards top male and female overall finishers plus top three in each age group (14 and under through 80 and above). Packet pickup occurs Friday, October 9th from 5:30–7 p.m. at the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo or race morning starting at 7:30 a.m.
