About the race
The race.
On September 27, 2026, The Empanada 5K/10K and 2K Pup Strut takes place in Jefferson, NJ at Lake Shawnee. Participants can choose from a 3.1-mile 5K, a 6.2-mile 10K, or a 1-mile Pup Strut. All finishers receive a free empanada from Chava's Empanadas at the finish line. The first 200 registrants receive an empanada-themed finisher's medal and a sports tech race tee; participants who register by September 6 are guaranteed a tech shirt. Dogs are welcome on both the 5K and the 1-mile walk. Proceeds benefit The Jefferson Education Foundation.
