About the race

The race.

The Huntley Historical Society hosts the Sew Hop'd Beer Mile on July 25, 2026, in Huntley, Illinois. Participants complete four 1/4-mile laps on a paved parking lot, consuming a 12-ounce beer before each lap; non-alcoholic beer is available. A four-person relay option is also offered, with each team member drinking one beer and running one lap. Packet pickup begins at 1 p.m., with individual heats starting at 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., and relay heats at 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Registration includes a t-shirt, custom bib, beer glass, finisher's medal, and chip timing. Awards go to top 3 finishers by gender and age group, plus DFL (Dead Freaking Last) categories. Participants must be 21 or older. The event benefits the Huntley Historical Society and runs rain or shine.
