Trail of the Dragon offers 50K and 50 Mile running events on August 1, 2026, in Ida Grove, Iowa at Moorehead Park. The 50K comprises three 10-mile loops plus a 1-mile out-and-back on single-track dirt and mowed meadow terrain with approximately 1,000 feet of elevation gain per loop; the 50 Mile consists of five 10-mile loops. Packet pickup occurs Friday, July 31 from 4–8 p.m. at the Conservation Center, with race-day pickup from 5–5:30 a.m. for 50-mile runners (6 a.m. start) and 5–6:30 a.m. for 50K runners (7 a.m. start). Two manned aid stations on the loop offer water and HEED electrolyte drink plus varied food items; three unmanned water-only stations are positioned at miles 2, 4, and 8. Drop bags are accepted at the start/finish and mid-loop aid station. All finishers receive medals. Proceeds benefit the Ida County Conservation Foundation.
