VETERANS DAY 5K RUN / WALK PRESENTED BY VFW POST 12144 ISLANDIA, N.Y. 2026

The race.

The 3rd Annual Veterans Day 5K Run/Walk takes place on Sunday, November 8th, 2026, in Islandia, NY, presented by VFW Post 12144. The 5K race (3.1 miles) starts at 9:00am, with a separate Kids Fun Run (250 yards for ages 14 and under) starting at 8:30am. Registration opens at 7:30am at VFW Post 12144, located at 1218 Old Nichols Road. The course starts and finishes near the Veterans Memorial in front of the VFW building. Participants who register by October 28th receive a guaranteed t-shirt; all finishers receive age group awards and BBQ afterwards. Pre-registration is $35 for the 5K and $15 for the Kids Fun Run (day-of rates are $40 and $20 respectively). Proceeds benefit veterans and military families in the community facing hardship.
