Walk A Mile In Her Shoes is more than a walk. It’s a community showing up — joyfully, visibly, and with purpose — to say that gender-based violence has no place in York. Every step raises funds that keep YWCA York’s doors open, crisis line answered, and survivors supported.
We are proud to announce Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®, a national men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender-based violence, making its mark in York on Friday, September 4, 2026.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® has been a nationally recognized movement since 2001 — a visually striking, community-rallying event where men walk a mile in women’s high-heeled shoes as a public act of solidarity and awareness. It is serious in purpose, joyful in spirit, and impossible to ignore.
About the Event
Participants will gather at 31 N. Pershing Avenue at 5:00 PM, lace up their heels, and walk down Market Street to Continental Square — right through the heart of First Friday — before returning along Philadelphia Street. The route puts the march in front of thousands of community members already out and celebrating, making it one of the most visible public awareness moments YWCA York has ever staged.
