About the race
The race.
The Wheeling Turkey Trot takes place on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at Alma Grace McDonough Center on Wheeling University's campus in Wheeling, WV. The event features a 5K run/walk starting at 9:00 AM and a 1-mile children's fun run starting at 8:30 AM. Packet pickup and registration open at 7:00 AM on race day at the McDonough Center, with early pickup available November 25–26 at the Parks and Recreation Office. Participants in the 5K who register by November 16 receive long-sleeve t-shirts; virtual participation options are also available. An awards ceremony follows the race at the McDonough Center, where complimentary snacks and refreshments are provided. Proceeds support the Wheeling Parks and Recreation mission to build healthy communities.
