The race.

The World Championship Pack Burro Race takes place in Fairplay, Colorado on July 26, 2026. Participants choose between a short course of approximately 12.3 miles or a long course covering 29+ miles with 3,232 feet of elevation gain, which includes a climb to Mosquito Pass at 13,185 feet elevation. Both courses start at 9,953 feet in Fairplay. Nearly 100 racers and burros compete annually in this event. Free race photos are provided by Pack Burro Racing Photographers.
