14th Annual Captain James R. Minicozzi Memorial Race 2026

The race.

The 14th Annual Captain James R. Minicozzi Memorial Race takes place September 5, 2026, in downtown Scranton, PA, during La Festa Italiana. Participants can choose from a 5K run, 3-mile run, or 1-mile walk. Day-of registration runs from 8:00–9:30 AM; pre-registration costs $25 and day-of registration costs $35. The first 100 registered participants receive a guaranteed race t-shirt, and a water station is positioned halfway through the course near Andy Gavin's on North Washington Avenue. Awards include recognition for the overall male and female finishers, top three male and female finishers in each of eight age groups, and a special Armed Services Award for the top 5K finisher who is active military or a veteran. Proceeds benefit The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania's annual Christmas party and college scholarships at West Scranton High School.
