About the race

The race.

The 5K Run & Walk for Refugees takes place Sunday, June 29, 2026, at Bluemont Park South Shelter in Arlington, VA, with the 5K race starting at 9:00 AM. A free Kids' Kilometer begins at 9:45 AM. The course runs on paved park trails with one hill and no road crossings, certified by USATF and suitable for walkers and wheelchairs. Race-day packet pickup starts at 8:00 AM. Finishers receive medals (first 100), and awards include certificates for top three overall finishers and top three in age groups spanning 19 & under through 70 & over. A post-race picnic follows in the picnic shelter. Proceeds benefit the Ethiopian Community Development Council.
