9/11 Stair Climb/1 Mile Walk 2026

The race.

The 9/11 Stair Climb/1 Mile Walk takes place September 11, 2026, at the Lake County Fairgrounds Grandstand in Crown Point, Indiana. Participants choose between a stair climb consisting of 17 repetitions up and down 120 stairs (totaling 1,980 steps) or a 1-mile non-timed walk. The stair climb costs $30 for adults; the walk costs $20 for ages 3–12 and is free for children under 3. First responders receive a $9.11 discount with valid proof of service. The first 200 registrants receive finisher medals and wristbands bearing the names of 9/11 heroes to honor during the event. Additional shirts are available for $16 if ordered by August 31. The event runs from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for sign-in and packet pickup, with climbing starting at 5 p.m. and a general division at 6:15 p.m. Proceeds support SWAT-T tourniquets used by Crown Point Fire-Rescue.
