About the race
The race.
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon takes place October 10, 2026, in Galveston, Texas, starting at 8 a.m. from Stewart Beach. Race distances include a 20-yard Kids Dash for ages 10 and under, a 1-mile run, a 3.11-mile course, a 6.55-mile course, and the full 13.1-mile half marathon. All finishers receive medals and race shirts. A costume contest with judging takes place before the race start, with the winner awarded the Day of the Dead Best Costume Award and a prize package. Post-race festivities include live music, food and beverages at the rally tent, live awards announcements, and a DJ. Aid stations provide water along the course.
