Death by 5k Oak Mountain 2026

The race.

Death by 5k Oak Mountain is a 24-hour running challenge held November 21, 2026, at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, Alabama. Participants complete ten 5K loops starting at 8 a.m. and spaced 2.5 hours apart, with subsequent start times at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 11 p.m., 1:30 a.m., 4 a.m., and 6:30 a.m. The course begins and ends near Dogwood Pavilion at the South Trailhead, following the Lake Trail and Rattlesnake Ridge in a counterclockwise loop. Between 5Ks, runners may rest in vehicles or tent camp in a designated grass field; tent camping costs $20 per night (first-come, first-served) with a park entry fee of $5 unless camping or holding a season pass. Five meals with hot food are provided at 8:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 11:30 p.m., and 4:30 a.m., plus snacks and drinks throughout. All participants receive an event shirt; finishers receive a custom coffin award. Registration is capped at 200 with a waitlist for additional spots.
