DPS Education Foundation Turkey Trot 2025 2026

The race.

The DPS Education Foundation Turkey Trot 2025 takes place on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2026, in Danville, VA, starting and finishing at American Legion Field. Two events are offered: a children's fun run (400 yards) at 8:30 a.m. for ages 12 and under, and a 5K run/walk at 9:00 a.m. The course follows the Riverwalk Trail along the Dan River. Entry is free for children when an adult registers for the 5K; the 5K costs $35 pre-registered or $40 race day, with discounted pricing of $25/$30 for area students 17 and under. Packet pickup begins at 7:00 a.m. race day. Registrants by November 14 receive a long-sleeve performance shirt; medals and trophies are awarded to finishers in age categories spanning 0–14, 15–19, and increments of 10 years through 70 and over. All proceeds benefit DPS student and teacher programs, initiatives, and scholarships.
