Friends of Yellow River State Forest hosts a trail run on May 8 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, featuring 5K, 10K, half-marathon, and additional distances on existing forest trails. Saturday races begin at 7:30 AM (half-marathon), 8:00 AM (10K), and 8:30 AM (5K), with a Friday evening 5K option starting at 6:30 PM. Registration closes online at 11:59 PM on May 5, though walk-ins are accepted; early bird pricing is $35 for 5K races, $45 for 10K, and $55 for half-marathon, with $5 increases after April 1. Check-in opens one hour before each race at the Yellow River State Forest Office. Age group awards (1st–3rd place) are given to males and females in divisions for ages 17 and under, 18–49, and 50 and over. Registered participants receive race bibs and timing; multi-race "Dirty Double" participants receive hand-crafted mugs. All ages welcome; children under 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult, and leashed dogs are permitted.
