The race.

The Great Lake Plunge is an open water swimming event held on July 26, 2026, in Evanston, IL. Three distances are offered: 1K, 2K, and 4K. The racecourse is a GPS-buoyed rectangular loop of 1K, with participants swimming from one to four loops depending on their event distance. Swimmers start at the southwest corner and proceed clockwise around the course, with buoys marking the corners and halfway points.
