About the race
The race.
The Iron Turkey takes place on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2026, starting at 7:30 a.m. in El Paso, TX at Up and Running, 3233 N Mesa. Participants can choose between a 3.1-mile or 1-mile distance. Registration costs $30 through August 31, increasing to $35 in September, $40 in October, and $45 from November 1–25; entries are capped at 1,000. All participants receive a long-sleeve technical shirt and finisher medal, with trophies awarded to the top three finishers in male and female categories plus age group winners spanning from 9 and under through 75 and over. Packet pickup occurs at the race location on Tuesday, November 24 from 2–6 p.m. and Wednesday, November 25 from 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; no race day registration or packet pickup is available. Race proceeds benefit UTEP Football, and refreshments are provided at the finish line.
