The race.
The Mackinac Bridge Swim crosses the Straits of Mackinac on July 18, 2026, with swimmers starting in Mackinaw City and finishing at Bridgeview Park in Saint Ignace, Michigan. Two distances are offered: 4.5 miles and 4.3 miles. Participants must provide proof of a 40-minute mile or faster by May 1, 2026 to qualify. Wetsuits and swim buoys are required. Water temperature ranges from 57 to 70 degrees. The event benefits First Responders of Michigan. This is not an officially timed event; participants may wear a Garmin watch to record their own times.
