About the race

The race.

The Chapel Hill Carrboro Public School Foundation hosts a 5K for Education and 1K Fun Run on Saturday, March 14, 2026, starting at 8:30 a.m. in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The 5K costs $30 ($35 after March 9) for adults and $20 for teachers and students; the 1K Fun Run costs $20 and includes a t-shirt and bib but is not timed. Online registration is available until 8:00 a.m. on race day, with in-person registration at Fleet Feet on Friday, March 13 from noon to 6 p.m. T-shirts are provided to the first 2,000 5K registrants. A mascot warm-up and lap around McCorkle Place begins at 8:00 a.m. Strollers are permitted for the 1K; dogs are not allowed. Ten dollars from each adult 5K registration supports the participant's selected school, and the school with the most registered participants receives a golden sneaker trophy.
