The race.
Sputnikfest 5K Walk/Run takes place on September 12, 2026, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The 5K out-and-back course begins and ends at the Sputnik IV crash site near the Rahr-West Art Museum, following the waterfront through downtown. This non-timed, all-ages event welcomes walkers, runners, and joggers. All participants receive a finisher medal, race t-shirt, race bib, and complimentary drink ticket. Participants are encouraged to wear galaxy-themed attire.
