Swim Hobbs Island 2026

The race.

Swim Hobbs Island is an open water swimming event held on September 20, 2026, in the Tennessee River in Huntsville, AL. Three distances are offered: 1 mile, 2 miles, and 5 miles, with start times of 8:00 AM, 7:45 AM, and 7:30 AM respectively. The 1-mile and 2-mile swims are out-and-back courses starting and finishing at the public boat dock at 1000 Hobbs Island Rd SE; the 5-mile swim circumnavigates Hobbs Island and requires participants to provide their own kayak and kayaker. Packet pickup occurs Saturday, September 19 from 12:00–5:00 PM at Fleet Feet Huntsville, with race-day check-in from 6:00–7:00 AM at the boat dock. Awards are presented for all three distances after results are finalized. All proceeds benefit The American Cancer Society. Complimentary food and beverages are available for swimmers, kayakers, spectators, and volunteers from 8:00 AM–1:30 PM.
