The race.
The Tacoma Independence Day 5K takes place on July 4th, 2026, in Tacoma, Washington. The chip-timed 5K race features a point-to-point course starting at N 37th Street and N Vassault Street near Vassault Park and finishing at Owen Beach in Pt. Defiance Park. The course is flat and downhill. A Kids 1K also runs on the same day, beginning at 9:15 a.m. from Owen Beach as an out-and-back route. The event is organized by the Tacoma City Marathon Association and welcomes both runners and walkers.
